About Omar Ibn Al-Khattab Academy (OIAA)
Omar Ibn Al Khattab Academy begins its inaugural year as an Alberta Accredited School in 2025, committed to nurturing minds, hearts, and souls. Inspired by the leadership, justice, and integrity of Umar ibn Al-Khattab (رضي الله عنه), OIAA is committed to nurturing students academically, spiritually, morally, and socially. The Academy is focused on building a strong foundation for excellence, introducing Qur’an and Tahfeez programs alongside a robust academic Alberta curriculum.
Omar Ibn Al Khattab Academy is looking for Alberta Certified Teachers for our upcoming 2026-2027 Academic Year.
Education/Qualifications
- Bachelor of Education degree
- Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
- Minimum one year of related teaching experience preferred
- Experience or specialization in Special Education considered an asset
- Strong relevant subject knowledge and pedagogical skills
- Strong classroom management, leadership and motivational skills
- Demonstrated professionalism, reliability, and ethical conduct
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and the school community
- Competency using educational technology to support student learning
- Ability to respond appropriately to challenging student behaviour
- Sound knowledge of Islamic faith and practice is an asset.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver high-quality instruction to students with diverse learning needs and ability levels
- Support neurodiverse learners and students requiring special education or medical accommodations.
- Create and maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive classroom environment.
- Develop, implement, and evaluate Individual Program Plans (IPPs) in alignment with Alberta Education requirements.
- Utilize educational technology for lesson planning, assessment, and reporting.
- Apply targeted intervention and tutoring strategies to support student achievement.
- Maintain accurate attendance records, planning documentations, assessments and student records.
- Communicate professionally and proactively with parents/guardians and participate in conferences.
- Supervise and support educational assistants and volunteers, providing guidance and feedback

Hours:
Approx. 1.00 FTE – Mondays to Fridays, full time

Elementary Educational Assistant

Omar Ibn Al Khattab Academy is looking for Elementary Educational Assistants for our current school year as well as for the upcoming 2026-2027 Academic Year.
For the above post, specific duties include but are not limited to:
● Student behavior management support,
● Student assistance,
● Collaborating with the classroom teacher for communication and reporting,
● Assist the teacher with classroom, resource preparation, and student supervision.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Educational Assistant Certificate (or comparable education) would be an asset.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training would be an asset.
- Courses related to working with students with special needs would also be an asset.
- Minimum one-year related experience is an asset.
- Demonstrated Skills and Competencies
- Strong oral and listening communication skill
- Strong interpersonal skills combined with tact, diplomacy and flexibility
- Strong organizational skills, time management skills and pacing skills to support student scheduling
- Ability to work effectively as an active team member in cooperation with other team members and students
- Comfort and competency working with personal computers and other technologies to support student learning
- Ability to respect and value all individuals with sensitivity to diversity
- Ability to respond appropriately to challenging behaviors of students
- Ability to demonstrate flexibility in work assignments
